The Italian Dolomites - via ferrata and hiking event

Organising this 8 Days event for 13th-22nd September 2023

I have organised many events to the Italian over the years.  The schedule is packed with high adrenaline activities and beautiful sight seeing, so you will need to be fit and full of energy.  All of the activities are suitable for beginners, however if  The group will purchase their flights from London to Venice.  If you wish to join this group contact Michael and he will search for the cheapest flight for you.

The via ferrata photos below may seem technical and difficult but have taken over a hundred beginners on this routes.  Michael is now reserving members for this event, talk to me.

As this event is not until 2023 I have not finalised all of the itinerary but as I know the Italian dolomites very well this isn’t an issue. The routes I will plan will be the classic route with the best scenery.  The below photo are from my 2014, 2016 & 2018 Italian via ferrata event,  the 2023 schedule will be similar with a few improvements.

Let me know if you wish to join us and I will send you more details. Group limited to 14 members.

Via Ferrata (VF) are graded 1-6 in order of technical difficulty.  Grade 1 is very easy and in many cases the wire cable is not necessary.  A grade 6 is a steep or even moderately overhanging in parts.  The second alphabet grade represents the ’seriousness’ of the route and runs from A to C.  This grade is based on the remoteness (the distance to facilities that could offer aid and support)  of the via ferrata and the possibility to retreat or escape from the via ferrata if circumstances require.  A grade ‘A’ is given to a route close to civilisation with good escape possibilities.   We will start with a VF2B and progress to a VF3B by day 2, from my previous event this is very manageable by all.

An example of our via ferrata adventure:

Brigata Tridentina VF3B - Highest altitude 2585m - 7 hours

A fantastic via ferrata that is the classic of the area and extremely popular.  The rock is good the climbing varied.  The hardest bit comes towards the end, before the bridge crossing.

Ivano Dibona VF2B  -  Highest altitude 3008m - 7 hours

This classic via ferrata is most famous for the Iconic suspension bridge used in the Cliffhanger film. We will take a chair lift to the start of the VF to avoid the 1200 metre of ascent. There is unexposed ridge scramble through fascinating terrain with a good amount of war history.

Michielli Strobel VF3B - Highest altitude 2240m - 5-6 hours

This is an excellent via ferrata and one of the classic of the Contina area. It offers good climbing at a consistent grade interspersed by several strenuous waking sections length scrubby terrance that split the face-off Punta Flames.  A long airy ladder three-quartersheight provides the high point of thereto and the summit offers superb views of Cortina and the surrounding area.

Waterfall Via Ferrata - Half day VF - 3 hours  and visit Cortina d’Ampezzo

After 2 full day of hiking and VF you will be tired so we will take it a little gentle with a easy short VF.  During my last visit to this location the waterfall was very strong.
