There are 2 options for the last day.

The last coastal walk starting from Padstow, Surfing at Newquay or Eden Project.  Michael will give this option to the group once he has been able to confirm drivers and their choices.

More info of Eden Project:

Meals:  I reserve good restaurants in advance to give members a choice of cuisine and budget.  Most other groups that stay at hostels would be catering at the hostel. Hostel food is ok but there are many good restaurants in Cornwall, it would be a shame not to experience.  I will send members details of the restaurants selected and ask members to choose.  Meals are not included in the cost as we are not staying at a hostel and I want the group to experience regional food. We will be eating in restaurants in the following sea towns: Charmouth, St Ives, Newquay and Padstow.  Breakfast will be at our hotel and Michael has allocated time to have lunch and breaks at idyllic locations such as Tintagel Castle, Minack theatre & St Michael’s mount.  Michael know good places to get Cornish pasties and the infamous Cornish cream tea.

Fitness:  This Cornwall event is suitable for members of an average fitness level.  There are a few hills climbs on every walk but no mountain climbs.  Each hill would take an average member only 8-10 minutes of strenuous walking to get to the top.  You will need to walk a minimum 2 miles per hour on a varied terrain for 10-12 miles within 6 hours. There will be many breaks to enjoy the scenery, take photos and to rest.

Flexibility: My approach and itinerary are flexible.  If bad weather is forecasted, I am happy to change the itinerary. Visit the Eden Project, National Trust building or another indoor venues.  Weather can we localised so willing to drive further away from bad weather to a different location for a dry walk.

No circular coastal routes:  The beaches, sea, high cliffs, fishing villages and undulating coastal paths are the main sights of Cornwall so the whole walking distance will be along coastal path.  Other walking groups would walk a circular route and finish back at the starting point. For Cornwall, to maximise the coastal experience we will have cars strategically parked at the finishing point of each walk which maybe up to 8 miles away from the starting point, ready to pick up the group after a long day’s walk. No other groups will do this as the logistics are complicated and time consuming for the drivers.

Securing a place:  My events are normally over subscribed.  You can reserve your place on any event, months in advance with a £50 deposit.  I understand that member’s work, family & personal situation can change, so this deposit is 100% refundable 10 days prior to the start of the event, no quibble.   All I need is a minimum of 10 days notice and I will refund you fully within 24 hours.  If you withdraw, within the 7 days period, and if I am able to find a replacement to fill your space I am more than happy to give you a 100% refund.  I only require the final balance 10 days before the start of the event, again being flexible to members needs.

Transportation:  Cars and a minibus transportation is provided if departing from London, Hatton Cross station on Saturday 30th April morning, we will travel for 3.5 hours to Devon for our first coast walk.  For Saturday we will complete a lovely classic coastal walk from Seaton to Sidmouth.  In the past I have driven from London to Cornwall and have taken more than 6 hours due to traffic, too tiring for all.  So for this event we will drive part way, stretch our legs on a lovely Devon walk then continue our journey to Cornwall on Friday morning when the roads are clear.  You will see from the schedule that I have broken down the drive to Cornwall into 3 sections.  I will sort out all of the transportation logistics for the whole group.  Organise the departure point, exchange drivers and members contact details in advance and ensure the drivers get to every location during the event on time.  All my volunteer drivers are experienced, regular and confident drivers.   I will co-ordinate the whole group to meet at Hatton Cross tube station for Thursday morning.   The hired mini bus is very comfortable with lots of space and will have a good group atmosphere.
